William “Bill” Krochalis is President and CEO of QBE FIRST. He led a team of visionaries who acquired American Sterling Corporation’s lender-placed operations (then, ZC Real Estate Solutions). In December 2008, Bill guided Sterling into its $575 million merger with global insurance provider, QBE. It is under Bill’s direction that QBE FIRST has become a leading provider of technology and insurance solutions for the mortgage, homebuilder and financial services industries.
Bill’s strategic guidance has fueled QBE FIRST’s rapid expansion and development of the solutions, products and expertise it offers its customers. He oversaw the company’s 1998 acquisition of a high-tech call center, CI Direct, and the $55 million acquisition of Westwood Insurance Agency from Centex Corporation in 2008.
Bill holds a Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Connecticut School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University.

John Anderson joined QBE FIRST in 2010 and is responsible for the company’s national sales team, with additional oversight of its marketing and communications, market research and public relations initiatives.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Connecticut and a Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University. He was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in November 1988 and to the Federal Court in October 1993.

Matthew Freeman is QBE FIRST’s Mortgage Lender Services Executive. He is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the business line and executing its unique strategy of providing both lender-placed insurance and tax outsourcing services to the mortgage servicing marketplace. Since Matt joined the QBE FIRST executive leadership team in 2008, the business line has continued its industry-leading position in compliance, quality and innovation with key accomplishments that include ISO 2001:2008 certifications, Call Center of Excellence certifications, and expansions to its technology platforms.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Los Angeles and an MBA from the Goizueta Business School of Emory University, where he was a Dean’s Scholar.

Robert Johnson is Chief Claims Officer for QBE FIRST and is responsible for overseeing the operations of the claims organization. In this role, he is the strategic leader of the claims organization, and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures for claims handling and the proper servicing and settlement of all claims.
Robb earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Humboldt State University and his Juris Doctorate degree from California Western School of Law. He is a licensed attorney in California and Maine, and a member of the Defense Research Institute.
